2 Timothy 4 I charge [you] in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, Who is to judge the living and the dead, and by (in the light of) His coming and His kingdom: 2 Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching. You know we spend our lives doing foolish things and wasting our time when we look at messages like this one. We are to be messengers; we are to be preaching the Word, with our lives with our works, words, and in our relationships. But, what are we doing instead? Playing around with things that don’t matter, spending our lives on worry, being depressed, and then trying to fix ourselves of all we have put on ourselves by our self indulgence.
But if we would change our focus to care about what God cares about, and instead preach the Word, be a Herald as we are called to —then everything else would work for us because we would be living in the Kingdom of God— which is living God’s way.
Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek God’s way of doing and what we need would be added to us. What we need, whatever the need is —would be added, an addition, not something we would have to chase, but would be added to us.
If we live with added to us, seeking His way of doing, knowing God’s Kingdom principles, being about His business; we wouldn’t be worrying, depressed and indulging. But we would be excited, and on fire for God. Why? Because He has an ultimate plan and once you get a taste of it you will want to be apart of it. God’s plan is exciting, fulfilling and the most wonderful part of it is, it’s eternal. What you’re doing now, if it is without Him, your future is not going to be what you were hoping for —to say it gently.
Paul said we should be showing by our lives what is right and wrong and if we’re not doing that— we are living in the wrong with the unbelievers walking down the wide path that leads to destruction.
We need to wake up and do our assignment before it’s too late, the King is coming and along with His return comes judgment. Get stirred up, get ready, be inexhaustible, and don’t let the enemy stop you from your assignment. If you don’t know the detail of your part of being a messenger, get on your knees and find out now, now is the time!
