Romans 10:17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself). AMPC
When my son was born I learned this truth to be exactly what it took to have faith for his healing. My son was born with a birth defect and I knew God wanted to heal him but I didn’t get how it would happen.
God told me I couldn’t trust Him because I didn’t know Him. I thought I knew God, but God said I didn’t know Him enough to know if He would heal my son. I had heard that faith comes by hearing and I knew that God was telling me, to hear His Word to know Him.
That is exactly what I did, I heard the Word day and night. I was desperate for my son’s healing so I’d get up early in the morning and hear the Word. I listened for God to speak to me by His Word and personally. I had the Word of God playing all day long—and I kept the Word playing all night long, even as I slept.
I knew the reason for hearing the Word was to know God and have a revelation of His promises being true. I also knew I had to change my thinking to be like His, to be in agreement with Him—to be able to receive from Him.
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. AMPC
If we don’t purposefully hear the Word and change our minds to think like God thinks we can’t be in agreement with Him. We have to know the will of God to be able to have faith in Him. We have to know what He agrees with and what He disagrees with in order that we can be on the same page as He. When we know His intent, we can then be sure we’re in agreement with Him, and then have confidence in Him doing what we know He said He would do.
Anything that opposes the Word of God is a lie and we are instructed to reject those lies and think only what God thinks
2 Corinthians 10:5 [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). AMPC
Thus being in agreement with God, knowing what God’s opinion is, makes it possible to recognize a lie. We have to be able to recognize a lie or we will live in that lie we think is true. It is a shame to live sick when all the while you could be well. It’s a heartache to have a child with a birth defect and because you believe it is God’s will, you as a parent and your child suffer with those circumstances for a lifetime, only to find out you were already redeemed from it. If we know God we won’t live a lie, but we will readily recognize one.
God said Yes!
2 Corinthians 1: 20 For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him [Christ]. For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God. AMPC
God is not a respecter of persons, His answers are Yes! Yes by My stripes you were already healed! Yes I will provide for you as I do the birds. Yes I love you and want you to trust Me and live by my truths so that I can bless you.
Hearing the Word is not enough!
Romans 2:11 For God shows no partiality [undue favor or unfairness; with Him one man is not different from another]. 12 All who have sinned without the Law will also perish without [regard to] the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged and condemned by the Law. 13 For it is not merely hearing the Law [read] that makes one righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be held guiltless and acquitted and justified. AMPC
It is one thing to hear the Word, to have the revelation knowledge of the Word, but know that it is the doer that makes one right with God.
James 1:22 But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth]. 23 For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror; 24 For he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like. 25 But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience). When my son was a year old I took him to his first check up. I was expecting a miracle because of all the Word I heard, but, instead of the miracle I was expecting I was told he needed emergency surgery. I was devastated, I couldn’t believe what was happening.
After the crisis was over I cried out to God and He revealed to me exactly what we just read in James. I was a hearer of the Word, but I hadn’t been doing the Word, or at least not all of the Word I knew to do. After God revealed my error to me I realized the seriousness of compromising the Word and how easy it is to be deceived into thinking one thing as true, and yet another be true.
God showed me how deceptive Satan is in working to get us to compromise the Word so that we won’t receive from God. Our part is be alert and self controlled knowing he roams around like a roaring lion looking for someone he can devour.
1 Peter 5:8 Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. AMPC
Having the right information sure helps ones faith, and the only way we can get the right information is to go to God Himself. Often times we just sum up our unanswered prayers as God’s will because of what someone may tell us or what we think we know, but, if we go to God we can be corrected by Him and then learn how to receive His promises.
Going to our friends whom may not have the right answer can be dangerous at so many levels. For example how often does a well meaning friend avoid telling you the truth to tell you what you want to hear, as to comfort you? Then when you live out what they thought you wanted to hear you live a life of deception. God on the other hand will only tell you the truth to set you free from the imprisonment the lie holds over you.
I didn’t like what I heard that day in the sense that it didn’t feel so good, but I did like knowing the truth about God and of how to receive from Him!
James 1:5 If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. AMPC
You can ask God anything, you can go to God anytime and He will give you the wisdom you need to receive from Him. He will give you the right answer and that answer is for your benefit because He is on your side—He is in love with you!
I learned the truth the hard way, but you can take my experience that I have shared with you today and skip the going through the crisis and right into your miracle. All you have to do is follow the instructions in the Word of God.
When you hear the Word and then do it without compromising, you will be well on you way to having faith for your miracle. By hearing the Word you will gain the revelation knowledge of who God is. By doing the Word you are in right standing with God and you will have His manifested presence in your life (John 14:21). AMPC
Hearing God is vital to Him leading you in your victory. Having His knowledge continually renewing your mind to think as He does and to know His thoughts and have His wisdom, is imperative to having faith for anything you are believing for!
