Jesus said to keep on asking because with asking, comes His wisdom. In seeking God, He reveals to those who are seeking Him, the knowledge of how to live in His Kingdom where all of our provision has already been provided for us.
Matthew 7:7 Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.
In the Kingdom of God is where we will find all we are asking of Him. Seeking God to know the way to live in His Kingdom and have His constant direction, is the answer we are looking for but may fail to realize it until we consistently seek Him without giving up we won‘t have the revelation knowledge we need to receive from God all the good He has provided for us.
Matthew 7:9 Or what man is there of you, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will hand him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent? Matthew 7:11 If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and [advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good and [advantageous things to those who keep on asking Him!
God does not want to give us anything short of His best which is His wisdom, the revelation knowledge we need to live in His Kingdom - where His blessings abound. In His Kingdom is where we can receive from God more than we can ask or think.
In God’s Kingdom is where we will enjoy all He has; all He has already provided for us. We are His children and all He has is ours when we seek Him and His way of doing, which is learning to live like He does in His house. Just like we give all we have to our children, God wants to give all He has to us, but we have to move in with Him to enjoy it.
Matthew 7:12 So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this is (sums up) the Law and the Prophets.
Jesus goes on to reveal to us the most important of revelations and that is that we have to prefer the others. Love is God’s greatest command and love has to be our stance. Love, the God kind of love is what needs to be a revelation in our lives in order that we can live in His Kingdom.
Therefore as we keep seeking we will begin to have the revelation of the importance of Love in
Gods’ Kingdom learning then the importance of life through God‘s eyes.
Love then being the foundation of the Kingdom of God, the most important to God, is the very thing the enemy will fight to take from us and is the main point of pressure he puts on as we seek to live in the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 7:13 Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction and many are those who are entering through it. 14 But the gate is narrow (contracted [by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it.
Jesus instructs us to take the narrow gate with the pressure, the pressure being Satan working against love, working against the ways of the Kingdom of God. The way to live in the Kingdom of God is on the narrow path that leads to the good God planned for us here and now and extends to our eternal life with we leave here. Anyone who is actively pursuing to do the will of God will have pressure from the enemy to get them off the path.
We have to love to fit into the Kingdom of God and so the enemy will try every possible way to keep us from loving. He will even try to convince us that un-forgiveness (which is the same as not loving) is okay with God. Thus in everything we must seek the truth from God and be determined not to move from it.
If we let Satan lie to us we will be on the wide path that leads to destruction, we will not be proving the will of God is good and perfect, but we will be siding with Satan. Just like in the garden when Satan convinced Adam and Eve to disregard God’s command, Satan will work in our lives to get us to disregard what God has said. His goal is to get us on the wide path that leads to destruction.
It is easy to live with no pressure if you take the wide path, doing what feels good, doing whatever you feel like doing, living by your own opinion, forgiving only if you want to, and loving whom you want to love. But the time will come when you will see the truth and realize that path has failed you. Your life here on the earth will come to and end sooner or later, before Jesus comes or when He comes and at that time, if you have rejected Him, you will be separated from good and from God for eternity.
On the narrow path, yes there is pressure because the enemy is trying to get you off the path; he is trying to steal God (everything good) from you, just as Jesus warned us in Mark 4. Read Mark 4:11-19 to see the warning Jesus gave us of how Satan will work to get us off the path.
I have seen many get off the path when Satan comes with pressure, but know that the pressure he puts on you can be surpassed by asking God to help you. God will help you to do His will! The narrow path is too hard without God, but as you depend on Him it gets easier, and if filled with God’s promises manifested in your life and on that path is your surety to eternal life with Him.
There is no haltered, no un-forgiveness, no offensiveness or the like in the Kingdom of God. Only good exists there. Therefore in order that you may live with God in heaven one day, you have to make the choice to live in His Kingdom here and now by living His way, with Him, on the narrow path where there is only good. Keep on seeking, keep knocking, keep depending upon Him and you will enter into and share the joy the delight, the blessedness which your Master enjoys here and now and forever.
