Jesus plainly said we can do nothing without Him, yet do we keep paddling up stream without paddle?
John 15:4 Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. 6 If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned.
So why don’t we depend upon Him? I believe Jesus showed me it is because we skip getting in His presence everyday. We get off of the Vine and try living without Him instead of staying connected. Connected, on the Vine, we will bear fruit and apart from Him we won’t. Apart from Him we can do nothing!
If you live without Jesus, without His direction you will have constant chaos, constant trouble, and forever feelings of disappointment. There will be no real peace in your life, just that false temporary one. You will try one thing after another to try and stay happy, but nothing will satisfy you.
You may even think you are good with Him, but if you depend on you, you are deceived in thinking you are good with Him.
There is no hope without Him, yet do you still push to depend on yourself? Do you call yourself a Christian yet live apart from vital union with Him? Vital union means you can’t live without Him, you need to be in His presence to survive.
If you are not connecting with Him everyday, every hour, every moment, you can’t be in agreement with Him and you are living without Him. If you can’t wait to get in His atmosphere, you have created your own and He is not a vital necessity to you.
Jesus is a relationship not a rule book and if you are not in fellowship with Him then you will live as an unbeliever, without Him. You won’t be connected to Him but you will live apart from Him, doing your own thing apart from Him. We can’t do anything apart from Him.
The secret Jesus is revealing here is to stay connected. Stay in fellowship with Him which will keep you in agreement with Him. Don’t go off on your own, but stay in contact with Him. If we are on the Vine then we won’t be thrown into the fire to be burned.
You may be saying I don’t hear Him. If that is you I would like to challenge you to ask yourself if you are seeking Him as a vital necessity? Is He who you have to have, are you dependent on Him? If not then that is the reason you haven’t heard Him. You have to want Him.
Jeremiah 29:13 Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
Don’t depend on you, you will take you to a place of disappointment. Depend on Him who has good in mind for you and can give you a good future!
