Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me. 21 He who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant him to sit beside Me on My throne, as I Myself overcame (was victorious) and sat down beside My Father on His throne.22 He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the [Holy] Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). Jesus is standing at the door of your heart just waiting for you to not only invite Him in, but to heed His voice.
Salvation is of not just saying Jesus I invite You in my heart, but trusting Him, by heeding His voice. Heeding to His voice transforms you into an overcomer. When you invite Jesus to be your Lord, the purpose is for you to be recreated, born anew, changed to be an overcomer like Him.
Jesus is an overcomer and He made it so by you choosing Him, you can be an overcomer as well. Even though, if we don’t heed to His voice, there is nothing He can do.
Jesus won’t force Himself on us, that is why He stands, waits, and knocks. He is a gentlemen, He won't do anything without our permission. When we cooperate with Him, we trust Him. Trusting Jesus is our faith in Him, in action. It is our faith that gives Him permission to do His will in our lives.
It’s not hard to heed His voice, it’s a decision. We make the decision and He does the work in us, He makes all things new and easy.
Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.30 For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne. It may seem hard to obey Jesus at times, but it only appears that way, an impression the enemy wants to put in your mind. The enemies power is suggestive, but you don’t have to take his suggestions. The Word of God tells us we are to take captive, sort out all of our thoughts and make them, take authority over them, to line up with the Word of God.
2 Corinthians 10:5 [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),
That means we have to take our God given authority and not think the thoughts that are contrary to the Word of God. We can’t allow the the enemy to chose how we think. When we think God’s way we will be an overcomer. Contrary to thinking the enemies way, thinking his way we will live defeated!
We have to take the time to know Jesus, just like in any relationship and that happens as we get to know the Word of God. John 1:1 tells us He is His Word. Thus when we get to know the Word of God, we get to know God.
When we take the time to know and experience God then our confidence in Him grows. In knowing God we also get to know our enemy. It is important to know our enemy so we can learn when he is interfering in our lives and then resist him.
James 4:7 So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. AMPC
Behold, you are calling Me, Here I am, standing at the door. Will you answer Me? Will you heed My voice so I can take care of you?
